Everyone likes to have some record of a very special event – weddings, christenings, anniversaries. Photobooks provide the ideal solution
and choosing the right papers will have a huge impact on how well
the book is received.

Things to keep in mind:

  •  Think about the papers and boards you will use for the page. Over the years, a range of papers and boards have been developed which are ideal for this purpose and mixing and matching them can have a huge impact on the person asking for the book and those who will look at it for many years to come.
  •  If you only want a small quantity, digital print is the answer and, because so many papers and boards have been developed in recent years for this purpose, the standards of quality achieved are extremely high.
  •  How you finish your photobookwill help it to stand out and incorporating a varnish on the front and/or inside pages, foil blocking or embossing could make a big difference to the way people react to it. If the content and messages are important, then it is well worth the additional cost of incorporating one or more of these finishes.
  •  If the photobook contains lots of coloured images, the type of paper you use will influence the finished look. Gloss papers give the best results, but if you want to be more creative then silk or even modern, uncoated papers will deliver outstanding results.
  •  Cost should also be factored in, to help you decide if you are producing a premium, designer or standard quality momento and you can then plan its content, print and finish to suit your client’s budget.
  •  Protecting the photobook is very important and if your client really wants something that will last a lifetime, producing a special box in which to keep it will add that final finish. You could either use the same paper as that of the photobook or one which will complement it.
  •  Where environmental credentials are important to you, a variety of paper options to help you meet this need are available.
  • Vibrant

Colour reproduction is important where photographs or other full colour images are used. Mix in the range of papers to use – gloss, silk, uncoated – and the importance of paper choice starts to take shape. If you are unsure about which one to use, ask your local sales team for printed samples.

  • Contrast

You may decide to use a different weight for the front sheet compared with those of the other leaves making up the book. Decide if you want them to match or, if you want to be a little different, why not mix papers to provide a contrast. Don’t forget, it is going to be used and cherished for a long time so producing something extra special is important.

  • CSR Policy

Ensures all of our papers are made using pulps from well managed forests, so you can be sure the papers you use from us have a socially responsible chain of production – from the trees used to make the pulp all the way through to the printer.

  • Environment

Many of our brands have a recycled offer within the range, with a number also being carbon neutral, so you can be confident our papers are sustainable and not damaging the environment in which we all live.
