Letterhead & Corporate Communications

Letterhead  & Corporate Communications

The paper you choose should reflect the image of your business and there are a number of things to keep in mind when thinking about which one to use.

Things to keep in mind:

  •  Do you want a traditional or contemporary look?
  •  Make sure your logo sits happily on the letterhead and fits in with the overall design.
  •  You may need to work the design around your logo to make sure the whole communication works in the right way for you.
  •  Decide if the images will be full colour, mono (black & white) or a combination of both.
  •  Remember to consider if there is anything printed on the reverse, such as the terms and conditions on your letterhead. You will need to choose an opaque paper or one which is thicker (heavier weight) so this detail does not show through onto the front of the sheet.
  •  Take into account any special print finishes you may want to incorporate. These include embossing, thermography, foil blocking, varnishing and die cutting.
  •  Will your communication be laser printed afterwards? If so, you need to choose a paper which has been produced for this purpose.
  •  Do you want matching or complementary envelopes?
  •  How are you going to distribute your communication? If you are planning to send it by post, decide if you are using window envelopes or labels to address them and, don't forget, that size, thickness and weight will impact on the cost of postage.
  •  Does your letterhead or other communication need an extra level of security, such as personalised watermarking so it can't be copied?
  •  Are environmental credentials important to you? If so, there are a variety of paper options to help you meet this need.
  •  Always keep in mind cost against budget.
  • Imagery

Glossy papers are best for printing full colour images, but many modern, uncoated papers will give very good results.

  • Envelopes

Always important as they will be the first thing many people see from your company. Don’t forget to make sure your communication will fit a standard envelope size.
